24/25 DME Academy Season Awards: A Night to Remember
April 28, 2025
Every season at DME Academy is filled with moments that inspire, challenge, and elevate. And this past year? It was one for the books.
Last night, we honored the players, coaches, and teams who exemplified what it means to Do More Every Day. With over 18 teams and countless standout performers, we could’ve spent hours recognizing everyone (and maybe even matched the marathon ceremonies of other clubs!). But in true DME fashion, we kept it focused and high-impact, and in our style.
Here’s a recap of our top honors from this year’s Season Awards:
🔥 Top Goal Scorer – Male
🏆 Gadsden Mann
A relentless forward and natural finisher, Gadsden found the net over 50 times this season. Backed by a hard-working and unselfish squad, his instinct for goal and fierce drive helped turn his team’s season around. A true beast on the field and a joy to watch.
⚡ Top Goal Scorer – Female
🏆 Yani Gonzalez
With over 35 goals (not that she counts), Yani is pure impact. Her blend of skill and passion makes her a game-changer—every time she steps on the field. Whether it’s a friendly or a final, she gives everything she has. Yani is destined for great things—and we believe in her every step of the way.
🧠 Coach of the Year
🏆 John Taylor (JT)
Two teams. One vision.
JT led the 2010 boys to first place in EA and a trip to Nationals. Meanwhile, he transformed the 2011 boys from a struggling group to a mid-table team that now wins tournaments. His investment in players goes far beyond tactics—it’s about belief, character, and leadership. As one parent put it, “We choose JT because no one is more invested in our son’s success than him.”
📈 Biggest Team Turnaround
🏆 2011 Boys
From last place to 4th in the Elite Academy League with 7 wins/ties, plus victories in three tournaments: Monster Mash, Dimitri Cup, and Bradenton Cup. Their growth is a testament to belief, coaching, and hard work. With 76 players at tryouts, they’re now a team everyone wants to be part of.
🧤 Goalkeepers of the Year
-
Top Male SR GK: Colt Baldwin
-
Top Female SR GK: Charlotte Haverstick
-
Top Female JR GK: Palina Golub
-
Top Male JR GK: Ashton Fyfe
Each of these goalkeepers brought grit, bravery, and next-level shot-stopping to their teams this season. Their presence between the posts elevated everyone around them.
💪 Team of the Year – Male
🏆 2010 Boys
An astonishing 28-3-3 overall record. 12-0-1 in league play.
With 74 goals scored and just 5 allowed, this team is heading to EA Nationals as one of the top-ranked squads in the country. From the Orlando City Season Opener to the Dimitri Cup & Tampa Bay Super Cup, they’ve taken on the best—and represented DME with skill, grit, and class winning tournaments with an attractive style of play.
👊 Team of the Year – Female
🏆 Undefeated Sunshine League Champions
With a record of 42-5-8 and an undefeated 16-0-2 league run, this team scored 83 goals and gave up just 3. Their trophy haul includes Monster Mash, Extreme Cup, Orlando City Season Opener, Jefferson Cup, Dimitri Cup, Rome Surf Cup, and more. But more than silverware, they are a true team. Balanced. Unified. Unstoppable.
🌟 Male Player of the Year
🏆 Lucas Turasz
Lucas capped off a brilliant season with a standout performance at the MIC Cup in Spain, where he played out of position (CB) and was named Team MVP. As a leader on and off the field for the 2010 boys, his consistency, humility, and work ethic set him apart. He represents everything we value—and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
🌟 Female Player of the Year
🏆 Silvana Burgos
Poised. Powerful. Resilient.
Silvana has become the heartbeat of the 2012 team. From barely seeing the field to becoming one of our most dependable leaders, she’s a model of growth and dedication. Her tackling is fearless, her effort is unmatched, and her leadership is undeniable. We’re so proud of you, Sil.
💛 Do More Everyday – Team Trippy Award
🏆 Erick Gonzalez
This award is about more than soccer—it’s about character, effort, and love for the game. Inspired by the memory of Trip Nugent, a young athlete whose joy for sport touched many, this scholarship recognizes a player who lives out the DME mindset.
Erick commutes the furthest, trains with multiple teams, volunteers with our youngest players, helps with fundraising, and never stops giving. On top of all that, he’s a fierce competitor who leads with heart and pride. Erick, you’ve earned this—and we’re honored to have you represent DME.
👏 Wrapping Up
To every player, coach, family, sponsor, and supporter—thank you.
This community is overflowing with talent and passion. While we took a moment to recognize a few last night, we see every single one of you working, growing, and giving your best every day. That’s what makes DME Academy different.
We’re not just building teams—we’re building something bigger.
