At DME Academy, Powered by SAI, we believe that true development goes beyond the field—it starts with personal growth and academic support. That’s why we’re proud to welcome the newest member of our education team: our Student Success Coach, a young leader and advocate who brings a powerful blend of experience in behavioral health, coaching, and youth development to our full-time academic program in Sarasota.

This exciting hire embodies what we stand for—support, growth, and mentorship. A Sarasota native and proud graduate of Riverview High School (Class of 2019), Nicholas Metcalfe earned his Associate of Arts degree from South College of Florida with a 3.6 GPA. He most recently, completed his Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of South Florida with a strong 3.5 GPA.

But beyond the classroom, his resume speaks volumes.

Nick currently served most recently as a Registered Behavior Technician with Virtus Health, where he worked directly with individuals on therapeutic and behavioral development, building trust, fostering growth, and collecting data to monitor progress. His hands-on approach and understanding of psychology are a perfect match for the supportive academic environment we are building at DME, especially as you mix Nick’s passion for soccer.

Nick has already been a member of the DME family since inception working on the Early Development side of the club. His heart for sports and mentorship is already familiar to many in our community, as he’s become a staple for motivating and communicating strongly with the athletes of our family. As a soccer coach with DME Academy Sarasota since 2021, he’s helped shape young athletes on and off the field—developing game plans, boosting confidence, and prioritizing both skill development and personal confidence.

Nick has also managed and coordinated summer camps for over 90 children at CORE SRQ, worked in patient safety at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, he has an unselfishness about him. With a rare combination of educational insight, behavioral health knowledge, and a passion for youth mentorship through sport, our new Student Success Coach is poised to make a major impact on every student-athlete who walks through our doors.

At DME Academy, Powered by SAI, we’re not just building athletes—we’re shaping leaders. And with Nick on your athletes support team, you know that he has their best interest at heart. In the role, he will act as a support to the students on their online curriculum, providing academic support as needed and assuring the student-athletes are on track to surpass academic expectations.
