From DME to Real Madrid: Yan Diomande Makes History
July 28, 2026
Every once in a while, a player comes through your program who reminds everyone why development matters.
Today and frankly for months, the football world is watching as former DME Academy standout Yan Diomande prepares for a historic move to Real Madrid, with reports indicating the Spanish giants have agreed to a deal worth approximately €135 million with RB Leipzig. Thats more than 150M! It is a remarkable rise for the young Ivorian international and one that every member of the DME family has had the privilege of witnessing firsthand.
Yan spent two transformative years at DME Academy in Daytona Beach, where his talent was undeniable from the first training session. His pace, creativity, confidence in one-on-one situations, and relentless desire to improve made him one of the most exciting young players to wear a DME shirt. Those who watched him every day knew they were seeing someone special.
His journey since leaving DME has been extraordinary. After breaking into professional football in Spain, earning a move to RB Leipzig, and representing the Ivory Coast National Team, Yan has quickly become one of the brightest young talents in world football. Now, he stands on the doorstep of joining one of the biggest clubs in the history of the game.
But as impressive as his footballing journey has been, those inside DME will tell you that Yan’s character is what makes this moment even more meaningful.
For two summers, Yan helped work the DME’s youth camps in Daytona Beach on campus. He wasn’t there because he had to be, he genuinely loved giving back and playing. Yan encouraged young campers and became a mentor to the next generation. He understood that being a role model carries just as much responsibility as scoring goals and he was the ultimate professional during his time on campus.
One memory that still stands out came during a post season exhibition between DME Academy, Daytona and DME Academy, Sarasota in 2023. In just one half of football, Yan produced four goal contributions, putting on a masterclass that left everyone in attendance talking. It wasn’t simply the goals or assists, it was the ease with which he influenced the game and elevated everyone around him. Daytona won that first match 4-0 and it has given our club in Sarasota a level to aspire too. Yan was a big reason for that aspirations and growth.
As DME Academy continues its mission of developing players for college, professional football, and the international stage, Yan’s story serves as a powerful reminder of what is possible. His journey wasn’t built overnight. It was built through thousands of hours of training, humility, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to becoming better every single day.
Today, the football world celebrates a blockbuster transfer.
At DME Academy, we celebrate something even greater.
We celebrate the young man who inspired teammates, encouraged younger players, represented our academy with humility, and proved that dreams can become reality through hard work and belief.
Congratulations, Yan.
Once a DME Academy player.
Now, on the verge of becoming a Real Madrid player.
The journey has been incredible to watch—and we know the best is still to come.
