Consistency Wins: DME Academy Sarasota Leads the Way in Finals Appearances
September 8, 2026
One tournament (Tampa Cup). 31 championship games. 62 spots in a final.
And no club appeared in more of them than DME Academy, Sarasota.
Across the tournament, DME teams earned seven appearances in championship games, the most of any club represented. Remember all finals were straight PK’s as well and while there is a bit of luck on who lands on top there, the proof is in the journey to the final game.
That matters to us, not simply because we want to win, but because of what it says about consistency across our program at every level.
Seven Finals. One Goal.
Tournament soccer isn’t easy.
Different opponents. Different styles. Short rest. Weather. Injuries. Pressure. Sometimes four games packed into three days.
Getting one team to a final is an accomplishment. Consistently putting teams in a position to compete for championships across multiple age groups is something different.
Of the 62 available spots across 31 finals, DME occupied seven of them.
The clubs with the most appearances were:
- DME Academy Sarasota — 7
- Florida Celtic — 6
- Cape Coral — 6
- Tampa Dynamo — 4
- Sports Paradize — 3
- Davie Sharks — 3
- Florida Premier — 3
For DME, that’s an encouraging indicator that what we’re building isn’t isolated to one talented roster or one age group. It’s becoming a club-wide expectation.
Consistency Is the Goal
Anyone can have a great weekend. Our objective is bigger.
We want our players and teams consistently competing in meaningful games. We want them experiencing semifinals and finals. We want them learning how to manage pressure, protect leads, chase games, respond to adversity and perform when there is something on the line.
Those experiences matter for player development.
And when multiple DME teams are repeatedly reaching the final stages of tournaments, it gives us another measuring stick for the direction of the program.
Development and Winning Aren’t Opposites
At DME, we believe strongly in individual player development. We also believe players need to learn how to compete and how to win.
The two aren’t mutually exclusive.
Technical development matters. Tactical understanding matters. Decision-making matters. Physical development matters.
But so does competing.
So does walking onto the field for a championship game knowing the opponent wants exactly what you want.
Those are environments where players grow.
Keep Showing Up
Seven finals appearances doesn’t mean we’ve arrived.
It means the standard continues to rise.
There are details to improve. Games we should finish better. Moments we need to manage differently. Players who need to continue pushing themselves and coaches who need to keep demanding more.
But there is something we’re proud of:
DME keeps showing up.
Different teams. Different age groups. Different weekends.
The badge keeps finding its way into meaningful games.
That’s consistency.
And consistency, repeated long enough, becomes culture.
DME Academy Sarasota
Practice to win. Play to win. Keep showing up.
