DME Academy Sarasota Delivers Strong Showing at Tampa Cup

September 8, 2026

25 wins, two championships and five finalist finishes highlight a successful tournament weekend for DME Academy Sarasota.

DME Academy Sarasota put together another impressive weekend of soccer at the Tampa Cup, with teams across the boys and girls programs competing throughout the holiday weekend.

Across the club, DME teams combined for 24 wins, 10 losses and five draws, while producing two tournament champions and four additional finalist finishes.

More importantly, the weekend provided another opportunity for DME players to compete, learn and test themselves in a tournament environment early in the 2026-27 season.

Boys: 15 Wins and Four Trips to the Final

The DME boys finished the weekend with four teams reaching their respective championship matches.

The U10 Boys from Tampa led the way, finishing 2-1-1 and bringing home a Tampa Cup championship.

Three NAL teams also reached their respective finals. The U13 NAL Boys went 3-0 in group play on their way to the championship match, while the U15 NAL Boys finished 3-1 and the U16 NAL Boys finished at 2-0-1 before finishing as finalists.

Additional results included:

  • U11 Tampa Boys: 1-2
  • U14 NAL Boys: 2-1
  • U17 NAL Boys: 1-2
  • U19 NAL Boys: 1-1-1

The depth of the performances was particularly encouraging, with teams from U10 through U19 earning results throughout the weekend.

Girls: U15’s Crowned Champions

The DME girls produced an outstanding weekend of their own, combining for a 9-2-2 record across four teams.

The U15 Girls were perfect, going 4-0 and bringing home the Tampa Cup championship for the third year in a row.

The U13 and U14 teams also made runs to their respective championship matches. The U13 Girls finished 3-1 as finalists, while the U14 Girls went undefeated at 2-0-1 and finished as finalists.

The U16 Girls finished 1-1-1, rounding out a weekend in which DME’s girls teams lost just twice across 13 matches.

Overall the girls finished 10-2-2 toping plenty of “ECNL -RL” teams along the way.

Building Through Adversity

Tournament success is always something to celebrate, but the bigger objective remains growth and professionalism.

Every game gives our players and coaches another opportunity to evaluate where we are, identify where we need to improve and continue building toward the level of soccer we expect at DME Academy Sarasota.

There were championship moments to celebrate in Tampa, but there were also difficult games, close results and lessons that will make our teams better as the season progresses. With weather a major player this weekend, all finals were decided by PK’s with no game action played.

Tampa Cup by the Numbers

Boys:  1 Champion | 3 Finalists
Girls:  1 Champion | 2 Finalists

Boys: 15-10-3
Girls: 10-3-2

Congratulations to all of our players and coaches on a strong weekend representing DME Academy Sarasota.

The work continues.
