Raising the Bar: DME Academy Challenges the Big Box Soccer Model in Tampa

April 28, 2025

Big news is kicking off in Tampa: DME Academy is expanding its Academy soccer program to the Tampa DMA, bringing our proven player development model, high-performance training philosophy, and powerful network of resources to a new generation of athletes. Starting with the 2025/26 season, DME Tampa will focus on launching competitive youth teams, offering a personalized alternative to the traditional “big box” soccer experience.

This is more than just another club—this is a movement built for serious players who want to train with purpose, compete with finesse, and become elite.

What to Expect from DME Tampa

DME Academy has built a national reputation for developing high-level talent through a balance of technical excellence, tactical intelligence, and mental toughness. Just look at our recent La Liga Success with Yan Diomande. Our Tampa expansion is rooted in that same DNA. We’re beginning with a strong focus on the youth age bands (2018–2014) and launching competitive teams for 15/16 girls, 17/18 girls, and 17/18 boys under the DME banner.

These teams will benefit from the same standards and structure that define DME’s national programs, while also being tailored specifically to Tampa’s unique soccer culture and talent pool.

Leading the Charge: Federico Martinez

At the heart of DME Tampa is Federico Martinez. With a deep background in player development and a passion for precision coaching, Federico brings more than experience—he brings results.

He began his career in Jacksonville as a technical trainer at Supreme Footskills, helping shape future Pre-ECNL and Pre-MLS stars. His journey then led him to Sporting Patagonia and South American Futbol Academy in Tampa, where he worked closely with athletes across all levels of the development pathway—from foundational skills to elite-level performance.

Federico now leads The Training Ground, a boutique training academy committed to technical mastery and competitive excellence. He also heads Finesse Futsal, a program that focuses on fast-paced, high-IQ futsal training to build sharper, smarter players.

“I’m thrilled to spearhead DME Tampa, a program where our soccer philosophies and commitment to true player development align. We will create measurable outcomes when it relates to player development all with a winning mindset at the core.” Federico Martinez

Why DME Tampa? Why Now?

Because serious players that are tired of the big box options deserve more. More intention. More challenge. More play. More opportunity.

The Tampa region is packed with talent—but is often underserved when it comes to personalized development. Our goal is to change that. By starting small and staying focused on quality, we’re building a foundation that will set players apart in every facet of their game.

So whether you’re a parent looking for a better developmental pathway or an athlete ready to step into an environment that demands more of you—we’re here to help you rise.

Fed and I agree on so many soccer-based principles. We believe in fundamentals over flash, are technical obsessed and prioritize a team over individual success. He’s got passion too, which differentiates him from many coaches in the area. Passion, purpose and a genuine appreciation for the game made this a no-brainer and risk worth taking. Jared Antista, GM/Owner
