March 16, 2025
The DME Academy 2012 Girls showcased their dominance at the prestigious Jefferson Cup this weekend, finishing the tournament with a perfect 3-0 record and a standout performance that saw them remain undefeated and unscored upon. Their impressive run through group play, semi-finals, and overall dominance helped solidify their reputation as one of the top youth soccer teams in Florida.
Defeating the Best in the Country
The journey began with a challenging match against the VDA ECNL #6 team from Virginia, one of the top-ranked clubs in Virginia. The DME Academy girls came out strong, displaying excellent teamwork, defensive resilience, and offensive precision to secure a statement victory with a 1-0 victory. This first match set the tone for what would be an unforgettable weekend.
Next up for DME was a showdown with the Baltimore Bays, ranked #4 in Maryland. Known for their strong play and speed, the Bays presented another tough test for DME. But once again, the 2012 girls proved their mettle, winning 1-0 decisively and continuing their perfect start to the tournament.
Semi-Final Success
In the semi-finals, the team faced the GSA ECNL #10 team from Georgia, one of the top teams in the southeast region. The DME girls were relentless, showcasing their defensive strength and clinical finishing to secure a 2-0 win. Their composure under pressure and ability to execute their game plan allowed them to move on to what was expected to be a thrilling final.
Finals Cancelled Due to Severe Weather
Unfortunately, the excitement of the Jefferson Cup final would never come to fruition. Severe weather conditions forced the cancellation of the final match, leaving the DME Academy 2012 Girls just shy of an official tournament title. However, their performance throughout the weekend left no doubt about their capabilities, and the team’s dominance could not be overshadowed by the weather.
A Major Leap in the Rankings
DME Academy’s play at the Jefferson Cup did not go unnoticed. Following their outstanding performance, the team jumped from #9 to #7 in the Florida state rankings, further cementing their place among the top youth soccer teams in the region. This leap is a reflection of their hard work, skill development, and team unity—qualities that have propelled them to success not only at the Jefferson Cup but also throughout their season.
Looking Ahead
While the finals were canceled, the DME Academy 2012 Girls have nothing but confidence heading into the rest of their season. With an undefeated and unscored-upon record at one of the most prestigious youth tournaments in the country, this group of players has proven that they can compete with and beat the best.
