DME Academy Shines at Dimitri Cup, With Both Girls’ and Boys’ Teams Bringing Home Championships

January 27, 2025

This past weekend, DME Academy in Sarasota proved once again that it’s a powerhouse for serious youth soccer talent. Both the 2012 Girls and 2011 Boys teams put on dominant performances at the prestigious Dimitri Cup weekend 2, with each squad taking home championship titles in their respective brackets.

2012 Girls Undefeated in Top Bracket, Conquer Dimitri Cup

The 2012 Girls team was nothing short of sensational, finishing the tournament undefeated and claiming the top prize in the most competitive bracket. With eight goals scored and only one conceded—due to a controversial penalty kick call—they showcased both offensive firepower and defensive resilience throughout the weekend.

Their path to the championship saw them battle some top teams in the country. In the finals, they faced FC Highland out of Orlando, ranked #8 in the state, and emerged victorious with a 2-1 win, demonstrating both tactical sophistication and mental toughness. The girls also overcame stiff competition from Scott Gallagher ECNL (ranked #8 in Missouri) and Florida West ECNL, winning both games 3-0, further solidifying their place as one of the top teams in the state.

Coach Jared Antista couldn’t be more proud of the team’s performance. “These girls don’t quit. Our possession play was off the charts. The best asset of this team is their team-first mentality and adaptability. If a team wants to fight, the girls can go. If opponents want to run, we’ve got the speed. This team is special, and I’m so happy for them.”

The heart and soul of the team lies in their collective effort and fundamentally sound players. Whether it’s outworking their opponents, adjusting to different styles of play, or simply sticking together when the going gets tough, these girls proved they belong at the top.

2011 Boys Dominant in Their Own Right

Not to be outdone, the 2011 Boys team also brought home a championship after going undefeated in their bracket. Scoring seven goals and conceding just one, the boys displayed a blend of clinical finishing and solid defensive organization throughout the tournament.

The boys showed their mettle in the finals, where they faced a strong team from Michigan. The final score was 3-1. Despite the pressure, the boys stayed composed, executed their game plan, and ultimately clinched the title.

Coach JT had nothing but praise for his squad: “These boys are growing. They’ve got the motor and the desire to push themselves. They’ve been working so hard all year on technical development, and it’s paying off. I’m proud to coach this crew.”

Both teams’ performances highlight DME Academy’s philosophy of developing well-rounded, technically proficient athletes who understand the value of teamwork, discipline, and hard work. Fundamentals over flash with a Do More Everyday attitude.

DME Academy: Where Serious Athletes Thrive

DME Academy continues to prove itself as the premier destination for serious athletes who value high-level training, intense competition, and an unmatched support system. With a coaching staff that’s deeply invested in their players’ development, both on and off the field, DME has created an environment where athletes can thrive.

Whether it’s a championship weekend or a typical training session, the focus remains on development and progress. DME’s commitment to fostering talent, providing a platform for success, and creating opportunities for young athletes to excel is clear to anyone who watches these teams in action.

Coach Antista summed it up perfectly: “This team is more than just a group of talented players. They are a family, and they have each other’s backs. It’s special to be a part of this, and I’m incredibly proud of everything they’ve achieved.”

For DME Academy, the Dimitri Cup was just another shining example of what can be accomplished when talent, work ethic, and teamwork all come together. With such an impressive display from both the 2012 Girls and 2011 Boys, it’s clear that DME Academy is not just a place for players to compete—it’s a place for players to grow and succeed.
