From the Soccer Field to the Stars: Pine View Sixth Grader Scores Big with NASA Astronaut Talk

January 31, 2025

Connor Craig, a standout sixth grader at Pine View School and valued member of the 2013 boys’ team at DME Academy, achieved something extraordinary in January. Not only does he shine in his role as a committed and passionate soccer player, but he also took a giant leap in his academic journey—literally.

Thanks to a unique opportunity, Connor became part of a select group of students who got the chance to speak directly with an astronaut aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Through a live, long-distance call facilitated by NASA’s education program, Connor and his classmates participated in a Q&A with NASA astronaut Suni Williams, who was orbiting Earth at the time. The conversation touched on everything from space exploration to the scientific advancements that make human space travel possible.

Connor’s skills and appetite for success are a testament to his dedication and work ethic, both on the field and in the classroom.  This kid is quite literally going places, we are proud he represents our jersey on game day.
