Last Tuesday, November 11th, DME Academy, Sarasota, alongside our partners (GSI) and (SAI), welcomed 24 prospective student-athletes to campus for our fall Shadow Day.

With 15 full-time student-athletes already enrolled in year one of our commuter school program based in North Venice, this experience marks another major step forward as we continue to rise, refine, and redefine what a modern academic–athletic model should look like in Southwest Florida.

A Day Built Around Passion, Performance & Purpose

Shadow Day was designed to give families an authentic look at what makes DME at GSI—powered by SAI—so different from traditional schooling.

Rather than sacrificing athletic dreams for academics, or sacrificing academics for athletics, we believe student-athletes deserve both done well.

Throughout the day, visiting athletes rotated through:

• High-level soccer sessions

• Strength & performance work in our gym and fitness spaces

• Academic experience time, learning how SAI supports individualized education, flexible pathways, and student success coaching

By mid-day, the prospective students joined our current full-time athletes for a campus lunch before sitting down for a Q&A session with DME and SAI staff.

It was a full, high-energy, immersive look at what a school day should feel like when passion isn’t squeezed into the margins of a long academic schedule.
