Debbie Pekel Joins DME Academy, Sarasota Coaching Staff

Debbie Pekel, USSF C License and current Head Coach of New College of Florida (Sarasota) joins the DME Academy, Sarasota. Pekel, a former collegiate standout had a successful career at Grace Christian University. In 2016, Pekel led all of NCCAA Division II in goals scored with 27 on the season. During her senior season, she helped lead the Tigers to their first region championship in program history and their first national tournament appearance. The team finished the season as national runner-up, falling to the BJU Bruins 2-0 in the national championship. Pekel was a four-time All-Region player while also earning All-American honors twice in her career with the team. After college, she became an Assistant Coach at GCU and Bob Jones University prior to her new role with New College of Florida.
